Psalm 138 – The LORD’s Goodness to the Faithful

What a joy it is to consider the goodness of the LORD to His own. This is what David considers at Psalm 138 for it is, “A Psalm of David.”

1 I will praise You with my whole heart;
Before the gods I will sing praises to You.
I will worship toward Your holy temple,
And praise Your name
For Your lovingkindness and Your truth;
For You have magnified Your word above all Your name.
In the day when I cried out, You answered me,
And made me bold with strength in my soul.

The beauty of our God is the truth that even when the sin within, this fallen world and the devil himself press against us, we can call upon the LORD God, who answers us in our distress.

Though I walk in the midst of trouble, You will revive me;
You will stretch out Your hand
Against the wrath of my enemies,
And Your right hand will save me.
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O Lordendures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

Our calling now, is to wait and rely upon Him. The Christ has come. His return is coming. Let us pray.

Dear Lord and heavenly Father,

You are great and greatly to be praised. You are wise and worthy to be waited upon. And so shall we cling to Your promises in Jesus. And so shall the Holy Spirit work all of Christ in us, making us ready for the day of His return. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
