Psalm 67 – An Invocation and a Doxology

Published March 22, 2023 by Rev. Pete Van't Hoff in Devotions

Dear Reader,

This Psalm 67 encompasses the entirety of your life. It begins with a call into worship.

1 God be merciful to us and bless us,
And cause His face to shine upon us, Selah
That Your way may be known on earth,
Your salvation among all nations.

It continues on, with worship.

Let the peoples praise You, O God;
Let all the peoples praise You.
Oh, let the nations be glad and sing for joy!
For You shall judge the people righteously,
And govern the nations on earth. Selah

And it concludes in worship.

Let the peoples praise You, O God;
Let all the peoples praise You.
Then the earth shall yield her increase;
God, our own God, shall bless us.
God shall bless us,
And all the ends of the earth shall fear Him.

Would all of our lives be led in worship like this, what kind of life would we have? We need not guess. We have such a life in the Lord Jesus Christ. Let us pray.

Dear Lord and heavenly Father,

Blessed be Your holy name. Thank You for calling, we sinners, into Christ-like worship. May such orientate our lives. May such restrain our sins. May such lead us into glory. The Son’s work is profound. The Spirit’s presence in our hearts, working Christ, a gift. Father, keep us in worship. In Jesus name, Amen.
