Psalm 104 – Praise to the Sovereign LORD for His Creation and Providence

Published December 20, 2023 by Rev. Pete Van't Hoff in Devotions

Psalm 104 declares our Creator-God and then wonders upon Him.

1 Bless the Lord, O my soul!

Lord my God, You are very great:
You are clothed with honor and majesty,
Who cover Yourself with light as with a garment,
Who stretch out the heavens like a curtain.

4 [He] makes His angels spirits,
His ministers a flame of fire.

[He] laid the foundations of the earth.

10 He sends…

14 He causes…

19 He appointed…

24 Lord, how manifold are Your works!
In wisdom You have made them all.

27 These all wait for You,
That You may give them their food in due season.

31 May the glory of the Lord endure forever;
May the Lord rejoice in His works.

And the Psalmist concludes:

33 I will sing to the Lord as long as I live;
I will sing praise to my God while I have my being.
34 May my meditation be sweet to Him;
I will be glad in the Lord.
35 May sinners be consumed from the earth,
And the wicked be no more.

Bless the Lord, O my soul!
Praise the Lord!

Let us pray.

Dear Creator-God and Sustainer-of-all-Creation,

Blessed be Your holy name. May the power with which You create and maintain all things, re-create me in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Your Spirit has been sent forth  to do so. You are great, and greatly to be praised. In Jesus name, Amen.
