Psalm 105 – The Eternal Faithfulness of the LORD

Published December 28, 2023 by Rev. Pete Van't Hoff in Devotions

Will you see the LORD’s faithfulness in famine? Will you see the LORD’s salvation in slavery? The singers of Psalm 105 have.

At Verses 16-20 we read that God called the famine, but not before calling Joseph to Egypt,

22 To bind his princes at his pleasure,
And teach his elders wisdom.

23 Israel also came into Egypt,
And Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham.
24 He increased His people greatly,
And made them stronger than their enemies.

At Verses 25 we read that God turned the hearts of Egypt against His people but,

26 He sent Moses His servant,
And Aaron whom He had chosen.
27 They performed His signs among them,
And wonders in the land of Ham.

and

37 He also brought them out with silver and gold,
And there was none feeble among His tribes.
38 Egypt was glad when they departed,
For the fear of them had fallen upon them.

and why?

42 For He remembered His holy promise,
And Abraham His servant.
43 He brought out His people with joy,
His chosen ones with gladness.
44 He gave them the lands of the Gentiles,
And they inherited the labor of the nations,
45 That they might observe His statutes
And keep His laws.

Praise the Lord!

In the midst of our own trials, let us see the hand of God in them, and Christ crucified to save us from them. Having such, let us observe His statutes and keep His laws. Praise the Lord! Let’s pray.

Dear Lord and heavenly Father,

Blessed be Your holy name. In your good timing, all shall be revealed. The present trials of these days shall not compare with Your glory coming in the Christ’s return. As You have in the past, as the singers of Psalm 105 have proclaimed, in the name of the Holy Spirit, preserved and strengthen Your people that we may enter Your Promised Land. In Jesus name, Amen.
