Psalm 139 – God’s Perfect Knowledge of Man

Published June 5, 2024 by Rev. Pete Van't Hoff in Devotions

Dear Reader, God knows you. At Psalm 139, David sings of such truth.

1 Lord, You have searched me and known me.
You know my sitting down and my rising up;
You understand my thought afar off.
You comprehend my path and my lying down,
And are acquainted with all my ways.

David sings of God’s plans for you.

16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed.
And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me,
When as yet there were none of them.

David sings of his need for the God that knows you.

23 Search me, O God, and know my heart;
Try me, and know my anxieties;
24 And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.

Dear Reader, God knows you need Jesus. He knows the fallen paths we walk and has provided the path of everlasting life through His Son, because He knows you and He knows what you need. Let us pray.

Dear Lord and heavenly Father,

Blessed be Your holy name. You know me. You know what I need. In Your good timing and for Your glory’s sake, may the Holy Spirit complete Your work in me, rooted upon the good work of Jesus Christ. In His name, Amen.
